Physical therapy(PT) is the treatment of disease, injury, or deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery.-
There are many benefits of using physical therapy as a course of treatment
The physical therapy helps to:
Reduce or eliminate pain.
Therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques such as joint and soft tissue mobilization or treatments such as ultrasound, taping, or electrical stimulation can help relieve pain and restore muscle and joint function to reduce pain in the area. These therapies can also prevent pain from returning.
If PT helps you eliminate pain or heal from an injury, surgery may not be needed. If surgery is required, you may benefit from pre-surgery treatment. If you go into surgery stronger and in better shape, you increase your chances for a faster recovery. Also, when surgery is avoided, health care costs are reduced.
If you have trouble standing, walking, or moving, (regardless of your age) PT can help. Stretching and strengthening exercises assist in restoring your ability to move.
Recover from or prevent injury
Physical therapists can design appropriate recovery or prevention exercise programs to ensure a safe return to every day activities.
Manage age-related issues
As individuals age, they may develop problems such as arthritis or osteoporosis. Physical therapists are experts in assisting patients recover and manage conditions conservatively.
